From Home to Fancy Gap, VA

Driving to the entrance of Shenandoah’s Skyline Drive I went past snow crew trucks but thought nothing of it since the weather was fine, though cold. Not till I arrived at the north gate and found the road blocked did I catch on. Uh oh!

An ominous start!

Since I now had to drive parallel to Skyline Drive on the west, I figured I’d stop by James Madison University to check it out for Courtney and then try entering Shenandoah again at the third entrance. Good guess! The Ranger at the gate above said everything north was still closed but from this entrance I could head south toward the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The next many hours were a beautiful drive along the ridge of a mountain range.
