Turn-outs to admire the vistas along Shenandoah’s Skyline Drive are plentiful and as this road is the highest thing around the views are pretty good. Since the driving speed is limited to a mere 35 mph you have plenty of time to soak it up. Though not tall by western standards, driving along the ridge of these mountains keeps you at between 2,000 and 3,500 feet elevation. It’s a beautiful and relaxing drive which takes around four hours to drive its full 105 mile length, assuming occasional stops for picture taking.
