Walking the Length of Broadway

Broadway runs the length of Manhattan.

We decided we’d walk it; we decided we’d walk all of it.

We took a subway to the northern extreme of the island where we crossed the Harlem River and exited in the Bronx. After checking that our shoes were tied tight and our packs were comfortable, we started our hike by crossing the bridge and entering Manhattan. Forecasts were for rain so we weren’t sure if we’d make it but we were committed to give it our best effort. With good conversation as our constant companion, we started out.

Steadily we made progress. With an eye toward documenting our adventure we took pictures at regular intervals. We walked by Harlem, Columbia University, Central Park, Times Square, Macy’s, Ground Zero, Wall St., and so much more. Ten pictures, twenty, eventually after 56 pictures we arrived at Battery Park in the south of the island.

Our feet were sore but our spirits were high. The rain had stayed away and we had completed our adventure. We now had a memory to treasure!
