My Sunday at the Park

Dear Family,
The weather this Sunday was supposed to be excellent; sunny and just a bit cooler than yesterday. I was fairly certain that Londoners would head to parks in droves, and I was right! The biggest park in London is the combined Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens which for all intents and purposes form one giant park, much like NYC’s Central Park. My plan was to hit the park early and spend the day meandering about, taking pictures of people and what they do on a beautify sunny day in London. Below are my results, lightly annotated. There are lots of pictures so give it a minute to load. Love you! Dad
Some people made a point of hanging out in the sun.
Some people managed to avoid it. πŸ™‚
Benches were everywhere; this one apparently seats only one.
Lots of horseback riding; the park was originally for hunting.
Cricket, anyone?
No training wheels on this pint-sized bike.
This was the most prominent bench, quite comfortable apparently.
No place in London has more skaters.
This guy was so white I was embarrassed for him but it’s not atypical.
Paddle boats and row boats could be rented at the boathouse.
All day long there were skaters on the skating paths.
Zis wee Frenchman was gathering fire wood. πŸ˜‰
The bridge separates the lake in to Hyde’s Serpintine and Kensington’s Long Water.
Picnicking here would be hard to beat.
These ladies from Guadalupe were here for Notting Hill’s Carnival Parade.
This kid obviously enjoyed his ride on the carousel.
This seemed popular but I’m not sure what is it. Perhaps part of a Tatoo?
Chairs were every where but if you sit then you have to pay $4 for four hours.
Can’t say there was lots of badminton but this family was having fun.
This guy genuinely enjoyed the swan … swans, geese, duck, etc. were everywhere.
Some went just to be watched; she stood out and smoked a cigar!
Kensington has wide patches of open field; bodies occasionally sat up.
This guy was not only white but badly needed a diet!
Frisbee, lots of frisbee.
I only wished I’d focused on him as I intended. πŸ™
Biking too was popular; this under Achilies Statue.
Nothing special but this kid sure enjoyed his “truck” ride.
