Driving through the Four Corners district includes meandering among the red rock regions that Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado share in common. Striking landscapes! The pictures here were taken at Shiprock, Valley of the Gods, Monument Valley, Agathla Peak, Mexican Hat and others sites.
There was much more to be seen but I chose to stay on paved roads. The snow which added glorious contrast to the landscape was also the cause of much mud. Do yourself a soul-lifting favor. Click on the picture to the left and look a the album.

In my continuing quest to learn more about the native people to this area I visited Hovenweep National Monument. This site was where several hundred Puebloans lived over 700 years ago in seven settlements spread across 20 square miles. The ranger was great and added much to my understanding. Fun fact: the entire Puebloan population at peak was 80,000 people. (Come on, that was fun! Admit it!)
Lastly, four States touch at Four Corners. Guess where I stood to take this.
