Lincoln Exhibition

Lincoln D.C. Exhibit
In this year of celebrating Lincoln’s 200th birthday EVERYONE seems to be having a party. Our Library of Congress which sits behind the Capitol Building was no exception.

OK, it’s official … I’m on a Lincoln kick! Thru a highly improbable series of web clicks I ended up on YouTube watching a video about a Lincoln exhibit at the Library of Congress that was ending in two days.

I got right on it!

Each Lincoln event or site I’ve visited has had something unique or special but perhaps this took the cake. My personal favorites were seeing the Lincoln family bible that had been used in Lincoln’s second inauguration and which was used again in Obama’s. There were lots of personal artifacts, many written in his hand. This can send chills through me realizing that the man himself actually put his pen to that paper. The last display showed all the personal affects that were in his clothes when he was assassinated. These included a $5 Confederate note which is really curious.

Every time I emerge from a new Metro stop in D.C. it seems I have new places to explore. So, since I was D.C. and since it was a sunny 74 degrees in early March, I decided to walk around. Two of my favorite shots are below.
